    Program Summary:

Winick joined together with the Jewish mothers of our community and enjoyed a complementary brunch.  It also acted as a fundraiser for the chapter.

    Full Description:

The Program started about a week before it actually happened. All members were assigned items of food and drink to bring for the program. Members also called the local JCC to arrange the date and set up chairs, tables, and speakers. Furthermore, the planner created flyers to put up all across the Jewish Community. Synagogues and Temples were emailed the flyer and an e-vite to increase the participation from the Jewish mothers and children. Roses were ordered and music playlists were made to make the setting appropriate for mothers. The day started at about 10:00 A.M. We invited all Jewish mothers, both affiliated and not, with the chapter, and offered free breakfast and brunch food and drink. We invited children and spouses of these mothers to buy roses in singles, half dozens, and full dozens for their loved ones. The members seated and waited on the mothers and families that attended. While music was playing in the background, everyone was mingling and enjoying themselves. Also, poems were offered for sale in which the buyer could either have members read it to the person of choice, or the buyer could read it themselves. This turned out to be a huge hit among the parents and the kids and everyone seemed to have smiles on their faces. While we did not sell all 200 of our roses at the brunch, we decided that we would lighten up the hearts of our community. After the brunch with the mothers had ended at about 12:00, the chapter walked around the surrounding neighborhoods to sell roses. By doing this and saying "Happy Mother's Day" to the community, Winick sold all of the remaining roses. On top of having a very productive day walking around and getting exercise around the city, the chapter successfully made more than $450 dollars. From what went as purely a community service and social day for the Knoxville, Jewish mothres, we added greatly to the chapter bank account. We had very much fun and received many requests from mothers to have a similar program next year. This was a huge success and everyone who participated, about 30 parents and children, had a lot of fun!

    Submitter's Suggestions:

Make detailed plans for the program well in advance and make sure to spread the word to the community.
