Program Summary:
A memorable Holocaust program that includes watching two episodes from the classic TV show "The Twilight Zone"
Full Description:
Supplies: Something to watch the videos on
Program:
Watch the “Death’s Head Revisited” Clip and then ask the members about their first reactions to the episode and if the conversation doesn’t go in this direction on its own, ask them, “does the Nazi deserve this torture for what he did, is there any forgiveness for them?" and do the Dachau's really need to stay standing or is there a better way to remember the Holocaust
Then if you can find a clip (you might have to by the Twilight Zone DVD to get the episode) show “He’s Alive”. Even if you cannot find the episode it provides an interesting discussion topic if you read Rod Serling’s closing narration and then discuss the irony of all the hate mail he received after airing that episode.
It is also very interesting to look at these episodes in the context of the time they were aired because the holocaust was till fresh in everyone's mind, these episodes were really a step forward.

Important Text:
"This is not hatred. This is retribution. This is not revenge. This is justice. But this is only the beginning, Captain. Only the beginning. Your final judgment will come from God." Lutze, once found, is taken to a mental institution in a strait-jacket, leaving his finders to survey the remains of the camp in wonder and bafflement.
The doctor who examines the former SS Captain asks, "Dachau. Why does it still stand? Why do we keep it standing?"
There is an answer to the doctor's question. All the Dachaus must remain standing. The Dachaus, the Belsens, the Buchenwalds, the Auschwitzes - all of them. They must remain standing because they are a monument to a moment in time when some men decided to turn the Earth into a graveyard. Into it they shoveled all of their reason, their logic, their knowledge, but worst of all, their conscience. And the moment we forget this, the moment we cease to be haunted by its remembrance, then we become the gravediggers. Something to dwell on and to remember, not only in the Twilight Zone but wherever men walk God's Earth.

*Read the Episode Notes and how much controversy surrounded this episode, but Rod Serling made more episodes concerning the episode. He was never afraid to speak out.
Important Text:
“Where will he go next, this phantom from another time, this resurrected ghost of a previous nightmare - Chicago; Los Angeles; Miami, Florida; Vincennes, Indiana; Syracuse, New York? Anyplace, everyplace, where there's hate, where there's prejudice, where there's bigotry. He's alive. He's alive so long as these evils exist. Remember that when he comes to your town. Remember it when you hear his voice speaking out through others. Remember it when you hear a name called, a minority attacked, any blind, unreasoning assault on a people or any human being. He's alive because through these things we keep him alive.”
