Program Summary:

The girls of Sababa BBG learned about the holiday Rosh Hashanah, while competing in a cook off.

Full Description:

The girls in Sababa BBG met a member's house on a saturday night. The cost of the event was three dollars, which paid for the food purchased for the cook-off and food for dinner. We had beans, cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes set out for dinner for the girls to make their own chalupas. After dinner we picked teams. There were twenty cooking utensils in a bowl with sweet and low and twenty with equal. Everyone attending chose one out of the bowl, determining their team. The teams were then given five foods to make a desert: apples, nuts, raisins, creme cheese, and honey. They were also given five items to make an appetizer: lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, challah, and nuts. The groups were also able to use salt, pepper, and olive oil. The teams had forty five minutes to make both the appetizer and the desert. Afterwards, there judges judged both the teams' appetizer and desert. The judges were advisors and parents. While the food was being judged everyone sat in a circle and was given a piece of challah. In the middle of the circle there was a bowl with water. Everyone went around and said something they were going to do differently the next year and threw the challah in the water, symbolizing a tashlich service. Then everyone was given paper, a pen, and an envelop and was asked to write a New Years resolution. The resolutions will be redistributed in January. After these programs the results of the cook-off were announced.
