Program Summary:

A fun filled Saturday night including a potluck dinner, candy making, BBG education (based on scenes of Willy Wonka). And on top of all of that, learning the Oompa Loompa dance!!!

Full Description:

What’s better than Willy Wonka, candy, dancing, and being with BBG's???

Combining them all!!

We had a fun filled Saturday night based on Charlie and the Chocolate factory. First, we began with a dairy potluck dinner where each girl brought something including salads, kugel, pizza, and drinks. Then, we went into the sweetest part of the evening, making candy. The supplies you need will be candy molds, melting chocolate disks (in your chapter colors) lollypop sticks, and than we also made Oreo balls and caramel rice krispie treats.  You can make whatever kind of candy you want; there are tons of easy recipes on the internet.

Then, we went into our education program where we watched scenes from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, than related the scenes we showed to BBG. You can make up your own metaphors while planning this program.

A few of the metaphors we used were:
The golden ticket is your BBG pin, and at installations you are so happy and are exited for what will come.
We are all the Oompa Loompas, and without everyone one working hard, the factory (our chapter) would not run.
The inventing room scene represented how important brainstorming good ideas is in order to have great programs.
The T.V teleporting scene represents the importance of communication.
The dark tunnel scene represents the problems in BBYO, and how there will be problems but the Oompa Loompas still keep rowing, and eventually when we continue to work hard as a team, we will get through it all.
We did about five other scenes including the bubble drink scene showing how you want to reach for your goals, but don’t get cocky.
We also showed the scene with the glass elevator, showing that what you accomplish in BBYO, and what you learn will help and stay with you for the rest of your life.
We only watched certain scenes so we did not lose people’s attention.

Then, we ate the candy and learned the Oompa Loompa dance!!! The Oompa Loompa dance is in the special features of the newer version of the movie (the one with Johnny Depp), but for the rest of the project we used the old movie.

Submitter's Suggestions:

We had three planning committee meetings before this project, and it  was a fun filled night than the whole chapter enjoyed.
