Program Summary:

Everyone loves Will Ferrell! So, plan a night of activities based around Will Ferrell's life and movies. This program will have everyone laughing like never before!

Full Description:

Below, you can find different activities from Will Ferrell Appreciation Night.  When planning this program, feel free to change or add your own activities!

1.  Improv Games-  What is Will Ferrell all about?  Comedy.  To start off the program, we played a few improv games to lighten the mood and make everyone laugh.  Remember, Will Ferrell started his career on SNL.  Games included: Party Guest, Freeze, Point and Speak.  For more games, visit http://www.voylesfamily.ws/improv.html#space

2.  Talladega Nights Relay-  Because this program was with two AZA chapters, each chapter went to their corner of the gym and the Relay began.  Each chapter chose 4 "speed racers" and each team had a mini-bike.  The goal for each team was for all four players to race around the cones (already set up) and return to their team (one person from each chapter was on a bake at a time).  Because the bikes were SO small, all AZAs found this event very humorous!  (Make sure riders are wearing helmets!)

3.  Getting Messy with Will Ferrell-  We all know it:  Will Ferrell is pretty disgusting in his movies.  So, we wanted to do something messy and exciting.  Each team (chapter) selected one person to participate in this challenge.  Each challenger was given a HUGE plate of jello, which was supposed to be eaten WITHOUT the use of hands.  All program participants loved this activity!

4.  Old School Competition-  Think back to the movie Old School: to prove their fraternity should exist, the members of the Old School fraternity competed in a competition.  At our program, we competed in a competition to prove we are worth of being AZAs.  Categories included:  Debate, Gymnastics, Academics, and School Spirit.
Debate- Each team was given a stance on an issue and debated about it after only 2 minutes of preparation (noting that when you are an actor, you must be ready at all times, like WIll Ferrell).  Our issue was: "Which Will Ferrell movie was better, Old School or Anchorman?"
Gymnastics- Instead of a gymnastics routine, we played Dodgeball.  Playing dodge-ball was a VERY great choice because everyone participated and had a great time.  FIND A NON-BIAS REF!!
Academics- Before the program, we made a list of 10 AZA questions and 10 Will Ferrell Questions that were asked to the two teams.
School Spirit- Each chapter (team) was given 15 minutes to create a new chapter cheer with dance movements.  Make sure the groups present their cheer/dance because the ones at this program were HILARIOUS!

5.  Ending on a Good Note- Because the program took place between the only two AZA Chapters in Memphis, TN, we had a good-and-welfare type discussion.  We talked about how we should be strongly connected as Memphis AZA and vowed to make the rivalry between our chapters less harsh.

Submitter's Suggestions:

-Make sure you explain the Improv games clearly!
-To get everyone quiet (we had over 90 people), we used a whistle
-If you have a comedian (or very funny person) in your chapter, ask them to do a small show/presentation!

The perfect program for two AZA chapters!
