Program Summary:
This was a mock Jewish wedding between BBG 63 and Reisbord AZA.
Full Description:
This Jewish wedding project was between BBG 63 and Reisbord AZA. At this project the chapters witnessed a traditional Jewish wedding between the two regional Shlichim, Gabriel Aptekar and Claire Nuchtern. We started off the evening by having separate dinners, each symbolizing either a bachelor or bachelorette type party for the given chapter. The boys had before hand decided to make the dinner include a dance party, allotting the time necessary for the party and met at Brett Tarnopol's house to do so. We Danced to many great tunes and had loads of fun during the party. We then met at Nicole Winograd’s house and had a Dream Wedding service. During the service we split people up into groups and they had to say specifics about the groups dream wedding. The group with the most creative wedding got the reward of helping lead the service. After the service, we went upstairs to begin the ceremony. On their way upstairs everyone was handed a sheet of paper saying their roll in the wedding. Some examples are: Father of the bride, Grandmother of the bride and best man. The s’ganim continued on with the wedding up until we reached the part of the ketubah. Senior Reisbord member Evan J. Brown drafted the ketubah which was then “signed” by Gabe and Claire. Then in place of rings, Gabe and Claire put bracelets on each other. The project also included a can drive that was donated to the Food Bank. After the wedding was over, each chapter went to its respective after project.
The supplies needed for this project are paper, scissors, ring (or replacement), and a script of the wedding. All the information about how a Jewish wedding happens can be found online.
