Program Summary:
Barnston BBG and Shapiro AZA celebrated the holiday of Passover by reenacting the story of passover and watching "A Rugrats Passover."
Full Description:
When the Barnston S'ganit and Shapiro S'gan got together to decide what they wanted to do for their project in April, it was clear that they both wanted to plan something that had to do with Passover. However, instead of just doing a Jewish Heritage program, they decided to use more than one fold and plan something that would be both fun and educational. The goal of the project was to educate everyone on the story of Passover. Preparation included finding an entertaining Passover movie and writing the story of Passover and splitting it up into equal parts.First, since it was Shabbat everyone participated in a Passover themed Shabbat service including singing Adon Olam to the tune of "The Four Questions". Second, "A Rugrats Passover" was shown. Everyone enjoyed this funny introduction to the project. When the movie was over, everyone split up into equal groups. Each group received a passage from a printed story of Passover. They were instructed to act out the passage they received. However, there was a twist. They had to pick a small piece of paper from a bag on which was a theme such as "slow motion", "fast motion", "ghetto", etc. They had to act their passage in this theme. The reenactments got very silly and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. By the end of the night, everyone gained knowledge about Passover.
