Program Summary:
An "around the world trip" themed regressive dinner utilizing all 5 AZA folds and 6 BBG folds.
Full Description:
Who: Ginny Weinstein BBG & Louis D. Brandeis AZA
What: An around the world themed regressive dinner taking place in different countries (different house) featuring different activities and foods at each stop.
Where: 4 Houses & 1 Park in the same neighborhood
When: A Saturday night
Planning: A planning committee consisting of 4 BBGs and 4 AZAs met twice to plan this project. 1 AZA & 1 BBG Pair together (making 4 pairs) and each led a group of about 10 people. They were in charge of overseeing this group and leading the activity at each stop with them. Additionally, each pair was in charge of a leading a "country stop". Just read the timeline and it will make sense! (:
Ahead of time: Find a neighborhood with 4/5 houses of BBGs or AZAs in the chapter and create a map on how you are going to walk to each of these houses.
Drop of the appropriate supplies to each house.
Notify the chapter members to bring $5 to pay for food and bring canned foods to donate to a food bank(tell them there's a contest to see if AZAs of BBGs can bring the most cans).
Order Pizza and have it delivered to the correct house.
Write six facts about hunger on random plates to be passed out during the Sudan stop.
Timeline:
For this project we had a commitee consisting of 10 people so 2-3 people lead each different "country" and had a group (color) that they were responsible for leading the activities in throughout the night.
*As people walk in the door, collect the money and mark them with a colored marker to signify their groups (have 5 seperate colors "5 groups")
Materials: 4 Colored markers, Mexican Bread, Plates (100), Plates w/ Facts, Rice, Pizza, Napkins, Bed Sheets (4), Egg Rolls, Havdallah Supplies, Lifesavor gummies, Chopstick sets (4)
Group:
LOOSE SCHEDULE
1. Location: Mexico
• Assign Groups
• Eat dessert (Panita Dulces)
• Say name and favorite MX food & word
2. Location: Sudan: Starvation (no food)
Run by Leader 3 & Leader 4
• Pass out Bowls with a grain of rice on each (5 have facts written on bottom)
• Ask people with facts on bottom to stand up and read theirs
• “Script”
• Split up into groups and discussion questions
• Ways to take action
3. Location: Italy
• Intro Leader 5 & 6
• Express Toga Contest (1 min) and then present
• Entrée (Pizza) [winning group eats first]
4. Location: Outside Miller -China
• Leader 7 & 8
• Chopsitck/ Gummy Activiity
• Appetizer (eggrolls)
5. Location: Park
• Israel- Arrived in Israel
• Challah Havdalah at the Park. Havalah led by sh'lichim.
6:00-6:15 Wait for people to come
6:15-7:35 Mexico
Leader 1: “Welcome to flight 892, we will start in Mexico, and our first course is dessert.”
Leader 2: “We will be eating the DELICIOUS Mexican delicacy Panitas Dulces (Mexican bread)”
Leader 1: “Please circle into your groups that were designated as you walked in.”
Leader 2: Now that you are in your groups, go around the circle and say your name and favorite Mexican food and favorite spanish word. Then, enjoy!
• Get in a circle with group
• Pass out dessert (Panita Dulce) within circle and eat
• Go around circle and say name and favorite MX food
Leader 1: I hope you have enjoyed your stay in Mehico. Please board the plane as we go to Italy for the main course.

6:35-6:55 Sudan ** Thinks going to Italy
Leader 3: Get into your circles. In a minute we will pass out your pizza.
• Reform into circles
• Place out plates, some with facts on bottom, sprinkle a few grains of rice on each persons plates, sometimes skipping some people
Leader 4: We apologize for the inconvenience but due to bad weather, we have made a stop in Sudan. Instead of eating, we will discuss hunger in the world.
Leader 3: the grains of rice that are on your plate represent the sad fact that many people iin this world will not have dinner tonight. Please turn over your plates.
Leader 4: If you have a statistic on your plate, please standup. After being called on, read your statistic out loud.
*have each stand up and read their fact
Leader 3: Now within your groups we will have short discussion, please take this seriously because this is a very important problem faced daily in our world
Within Groups, Leaders Ask:
1. How have you seen hunger impact our local community?
2. Do you think it is our responsibility to feed the hungry?
3. Do you see hunger as a larger problem on the local or global scale?
4. Share what you have done to help combat hunger.
5. Why do you believe it is important to feed the hungry
6. How does this relate with Judaism?

Leader 4: Thank you for your cooperation. We will now depart for Italy.
6:55-7:10 Walking
7:10-7:40 Italy
Speaker 5: You have now arrived in Italy. While we are waiting for our pizza, we will have a 1 minute toga challenge since we are in Italy.
* Pass out sheets to each group
Speaker 6: You will have one minute to assemble a toga and the winner of this challenge will get to get pizza first.. GO!!
**Choose winner and eat pizza
Speaker 5: Thank for being good guests in Italy
Speaker 6: We will now depart for Italy
7:30-7:45 China
Speaker 7: Welcome to china we will be doing a chopstick activity to test your skills
Speaker 8: Each team please get in a straight line.
* place a bowl at the opposite end of each line.
hand the first team member of each line a pair of chopsticks & a life-savor gummy
Speaker 7: Each group member must walk down to the bowl, around it and back while carrying the gummy with chopsticks and then pass it to the next teamate who will repeat the same thing
Speaker 8: The first team to finish gets eggrolls first
Speaker 7: Ready set......go!!

7:45-9:00 Havdallah led by the chapter's Sh'lichem
