Program Summary:

River City hosted their 3rd annual fashion show this year benefitting Jewish Family Services in Memphis! This fundraiser successfully raised 11,000 dollars!

Full Description:

Even though the fashion show is fun and an extremely great way to raise money, it takes alot of work! So much has to be done before the fashion show for it to seriously be successful.

First at our fashion show we always have an ad book given to anyone that attends. Before the fashion show our chapter members must sell at least $50 worth in ads or pay the asessment from their own pockets. Also our chapter members are the models in the show and to be a model you must sell at least $300 worth of ads. Obviously prior to the fashion show we are already bringing in the cashflow. This year we also awarded the member that sold the most ads with a gift card and that is a real motivator to sell ads. The ads come in all shapes and sizes and people can design them themselves or you can offer to design them. We sold one-line ads for $10, quarter page for $25, half page for $50, whole page for $100, and back cover for $250.

Next you need to call local boutiques and cute stores to see who would like to have their clothes modeled in the show. Mention how much publicity they would recieve, and possibly offer them a free ad.

Next you have to find a location! Our chapter decided to save money by having it at our local Jewish Community Center. Most centers will do it for free and that is a great way to save money!

Next publicity. Make flyers, put ads in local newspapers, talk about it, facebook events, etc. Make sure tons of people are going to attend the event!

Next presale tickets. Another great way our chapter made money prior to the fashion show was preselling tickets. Each member recieved 5 tickets that they had to sell or they had to pay the asessment themselves. We sold the tickets for $5 each.

Next the auction. During our show we hosted an auction which also made us some money. We called friends who owned businesses, parents, alumni, etc. and got items donated. We had gift cards, pottery, free dance lessons, jewelry, etc. Also during the show when the auction was taking place, the models would change outfits.

Next decorations. Make sure the room that the fashion show is going to be in is huge and decorated. We hung christmas lights from the walls and turned off the overhead lights for decoration.

One very important thing to not forget is to delegate. Our Gizborit did a fantastic job delegating jobs. We had a decorations committee, an auction committee, an ad book chairwoman, and a publicity committee.

Then how the show runs is up to you! Attached is the script, the auction list, the models' outfit descriptions, and a few pictures. Finally our show was on Earth Day and BBG Founder's Day so our S'ganit and Shlicha talked about the importance of these two days.

GOOD LUCK!
