Program Summary:
Dafna had a relaxing and self-empowering night while doing all outdoor programs!
Full Description:
Dafna could really use a night of relaxation and chill programs. So we decided to have a night focusing on mind, body and attitude!
We went outside of a member's house and had the entire event outdoors which was very refreshing.
About 35 members showed up.
After doing a few icebreakers, we jumped straight into Havdallah. After Havdallah we had a lovely song circle, where one of our girls played the guitar. Next we did a program about learning to love ourselves, where we read a script. This is what we read:
INTRO
Life has always been known to change in an instant. It has been known to twist, turn, and alter the world around us. At times it may seem that there is nothing we can do, like we are helpless in the way of fate. As Forrest Gump once said “ Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get,”. Which is true to some level, but when you do end up with that coconut candy you can either do one of two things, let it ruin your days, or you can wash it down with a glass of iced tea.
Tonight I want you to know that you are in a safe atmosphere. This is a place where we can share, think, and talk about things that are important to our lives. Talking things out is important to our mental and emotional health, when things are kept bottled up too long they tend to add stress to our already busy lives. So here is our chance, our chance to reach out to each other and create a special bond that can never be broken.
We are going to take a look at our lives and discover how truly strong we are. We are important and I want every single one of you to know that.
CORE
The first thing I want you to do is to look back to a time in your life where you disappointed yourself. A time where you know that you didn’t give your all and were selling yourself short. (1 Girl Shares)
Now I want you to think of a time in which you let somebody else down. A time where you broke a promise, forgot something important, or didn’t stick with your commitment to them. (Different Girl Shares)
* BREAK INTO PAIRS 3 MIN DISCUSSION*
This time I want you to remember a moment when you were proud of yourself. A time where you know you gave everything you had and put yourself out there. I want you to remember the undying pride you felt, the little light of yours that had its chance to shine. It’s the moment that you were able to look at all you went through and say that it was worth it.
Wasn’t that feeling the best?
And I know at times that feeling seems so far away, but who says it can’t happen again?
CARDS
CARD#1
I want you to write down something that you really want but is just out of reach. Something you know you will have to really push yourself out of your comfort zone to achieve.
CARD#2
On this card I want you to write down something that you feel is holding you back from achieving your full potential. It could be a person, an obstacle, anything, just writes it down.
Now I want you to set CARD #3 to the side for a minute and I want you to think about this. Who is the one person that will never leave you, who will stay with you through thick and thin? It’s not your parents, your friends, or even your fellow Dafna members, it’s YOU! You need to learn how to be your own best friend, because once you learn how to pick yourself back up and get yourself back into the game, nobody can stop you. You become a strong confident independent woman with the world at her fingertips. On CARD#3 I want you to write down something you do/can do to keep your head held high.
SEND 3 PEOPLE TO COLLECT DIFFERENT CARDS
Ladies, we have just set a challenge for ourselves, and this is how we are going to do this.
In BOX#1 are our goals, we are going to tape that box shut nobody else will know what you’re doing, and nobody else can judge your success except for you.
In BOX#2 is what might hold us back, but we are going to bury it, because even though challenges come our way, it’s important that we don’t let them stop us from success.
Finally we have BOX#3, the ways that we can find the strength inside ourselves to get back out into the world and to continue fighting for what we believe in. Our lovely Web Woman, Shira, will be putting them up anonymously on Dafna’s website, check cyber squad for the link.
CLOSING
Before we move on from this program I want to remind every single one of you that if you ever need anything, a friend, a hug, or just someone to talk to, we are here for you. Just call/text/fb us and let us know what’s going on.
DAFNA BBG #1110, STRONG UNITED AND PROUD.
After this program, everyone was feeling serious and we wanted to lighten the mood. We had different stations and everyone traveled to each. At one station we learned an Israeli song. At another we made dirt cups (pudding, crushed oreos, and gummy worms...yum), at another we learned how to read palms.
