Program Summary:
This was an inspirational program done at RLTC 2009, during the AIT/MIT portion. This song lyrics program relates taking initiative to accomplishing things in BBYO.
Full Description:
Inspiration Program
Start out by turning on “Man in the Mirror”
After song is over, have a discussion of the song and it’s meaning. "Making the world a better place, by starting with themselves."
What songs inspire them?
-Eye of the Tiger
-Ain’t No Mountain High Enough
-Imagine
-Come Together
-The General
Split up lyrics of inspirational songs and split everyone into groups of four.
Have each group put together lyrics to make a story. Each story will be themed by a quote that they’ll choose.
They will have to share their story with everyone.
"The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all."
“Obstacles are things a person sees when he takes his eyes off his goal.”
“The only real failure in life is the failure to try.”
“We are all faced with a series of great opportunities brilliantly disguised as impossible situations.”
“The great thing in the world is not so much where we stand, as in what direction we are moving.”
“What is not started today is never finished tomorrow.”
“Age wrinkles the body. Quitting wrinkles the soul.”
“The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark.”
Finish the program by relating the importance of taking initiative (because that is what all of the quotes have in common) to getting stuff done in BBYO.
Submitter's Suggestions:
Prepare what will be discussed in advance.
