    Program Summary:

Dafna came together to learn all about each fold of BBYO and get ready for Tournies. In a night full of diverse activities and programs, everyone had a great time!

    Full Description:

Dafna BBG had its 6-folds sleepover to celebrate and program around each fold of BBYO. We also used this night to prep for Tournies.

    Jewish Heritage:
    -paper and pens

First we took a piece of paper and folded it into three sections. In the first fold we wrote the names of people we really care about. In the next fold we wrote things we have accomplished, and in the last one things we would like to accomplish. We then got in a circle and turned out the lights. Two girls walked around the circle and read corresponding letters from girls living in Nazi-Germany during the Holocaust. One girl was Jewish and the other was not. Throughout the program we would rip off parts of our paper to represent losing them to the Holocaust.

    Social Action:
    -pencil cases
    -pencils
    -erasers
    -crayons
    -markers
    -other school supplies

For the fold community service we chose a school for kids with disabilities to send pencil cases filled with school supplies to.  We decorated pencil cases as part of the program and then filled them up.  Before, we did a few activities for the chapter to understand what kids with disabilities feel like.  First everyone partnered up and lip-read words and sentences to each other to understand how hard it is to understand people when you cannot hear.  We did several similar activities for about 15 minutes.  After those activities we began with the decorating.

    Sisterhood:
    -labels
    -pens
    -posters
    -magazines
    -glue/tape

First, we wrote the names of several cliques from the movie Mean Girls on labels and stuck them to everyone’s foreheads. We then walked around and treated everyone how we would treat the people in the clique on their foreheads. Afterwards we got in groups with our cliques, and created collages by ripping pictures out of magazines and putting them on the posters representing our clique and how the program made us feel. Then we presented our posters and talked about cliques in real life.

    Social Action:
First we read a brief history of Jews in Ethiopia. We then played a short game where we answered questions that related to the reading. We put an answer in each corner, and everyone would go to the corner with the answer they believed was correct. We then had a short discussion about each question.

    Recreation:
Have everyone compete in mini-olympics! We made 3 rotations consisting of different obstacles.

    1. Climb the mountain, have 5 chairs set up, get the group to get everyone on the chairs but only the people sitting in them can have their feet on the ground. As the program proceeds, take away a chair each level until there are 2 or 3 chairs, see if they can do it.
    2. Obstacle course, have a designated obstacle course set up, have participants go through it, keep a stopwatch handy, if they do not complete the course under 30 seconds, they become PART of the course, only making it harder for the other participants.
    3. Get to the island, have random objects set up in a line, spaced out far, groups must use all the objects to get all their members to the other side without touching the floor. Objects that work well: buckets, yoga balls, magazines, cardboard pieces, chairs.
Although these games can get kind of competitive, remember to have fun!

    Creativity:
    -shirts
    -puffy paint

We decided to make t-shirts to explore our creative side. Since Tournies was the upcoming weekend, we used this time to create shirts for Tournies. We spread out around the room and all puffy-painted our shirts.

We also learned our song for Tournies and practiced cheers.

Since our event started at 5, we had pizza for dinner, and bagels for breakfast. We charged members $15, and prospects $8.
