Program Summary:
Okeon invited two Israeli speakers to come talk about Israeli Culture. We learned about Israeli food, music, and sports. The fold was delicious exciting, and entertaining, and everyone had a great time and learned a lot about Israeli culture.
Full Description:
We started off by eating some Israeli food like falafel and shakshouka, and we had some Israeli snacks, including Bamba and Bissli. The theme of the program was Israel culture but mainly Israeli music. We got Israeli speakers named Dvir and Daniel to come speak to us about Israeli music and how it compares to American music. They also brought an Israeli CD; the singer was Ofra Haza. After this, they showed us a few Israeli dances like Krenzl and Yemenite. The Okeon members tended to really like the music, as it resembled some popular American music. Our favorite song was called Im Nin Alu. Then, we steered the conversation toward Israeli rappers like Matisyahu and Tamar Nafar. We found that Israeli rap was much more meaningful and relevant than American rap. Then, the Okeon members were instructed to do a rap off with the subject being Israel and Judaism. Israeli After that we will talk about Israeli sports, and we learned that they play many of the same sports in Israel that we do here in America; basketball and soccer are very popular. Dvir and Daniel told us about some other Israeli sports like Gaga. They taught us how to play with authentic rules, and we did this outside.

Submitter's Suggestions:
If you get speakers to come to your program, make sure that they are very knowledgable about the subjects like ours were. Also, make sure they can speak English well. This really helps everyone to learn all the information without any language barriers.
