Program Summary:
Star's inductions theme was My Life Is BBG.It was a great sisterhood bonding night where we inducted our Mits and new members into the chapter.
Full Description:
We had about 25 girls ranging from perspectives to seniors. We all arrived and did a basic get to know you type mixer. Everyone said their name, school, grade, and a fun fact about them. We then gave everyone a card and they wrote down a MLIBBG. Prospective members wrote down a "My life is Jewish" or "My life is average" message. We went around and laughed at everyone's snapping in agreement to all of the MLIBBGs. Next we had two seperate rooms set up. One for dinner (pizza, snacks, etc.) and one for crafts. Everyone got a blank chinese box to decorate with magazines, sequins and ribbon to make pin boxes. Each person was also given a foam star (our chapter's symbol) and the name of someone else at the program. We decorated the stars for our partner to describe them and their life in BBYO. Next we went outside for havdallah and cheer circle. Once we came back inside, everyone sat in a circle and we played the game of BBG LIFE (see attached script) Everyone was given a bag of beads to play the game and answered the scenarios by keeping the corresponding bead (THIS WILL MAKE MORE SENSE ONE YOU HAVE READ THE SCRIPT!) The game is situations that BBGs face and the path we chose in life. We then went into inductions where the new members received their certificates, tea lights with ribbon, and their purple pin. Next we had a dance party to clean up and ended the evening with a good and welfare.
Since we had won the membership challenge of our region, we did not charge an entree fee. With all the craft supplies and food, this program ended up costing about $100. We also splurged shopping for supplies because we had so much money to spend. It can definitely be done cheaper.
Our advisor attended and helped with inductions.
Submitter's Suggestions:
Be prepared for a mess with all the crafts!Get older members involved in the inductions so they don't feel left out.
