Program Summary:
A fun sisterhood night of singing, dancing, and laughing! Activities themed around the t.v. show Glee.
Full Description:
Once everyone arrived we started the mixer. Everyone took a handful of cheerios and then went around and said facts about them including their favorite song. This playlist that we made will be in Star’s music newspaper. After the hour long mixer of laughing and side stories, we ate pizza dinner. Following, we proceeded into the basement for havdalah and cheers. We then broke into 4 groups and split up around the house. Each group got a different glee song which they made a dance to. We all performed for the big group. Everyone had a great time laughing and dancing. Next I gave everyone a note card that described a stereotype of a teenager. On this card its said the sterotype then described what other kids at school thought of them. We played party corks and went up in groups acting trying to guess everyone’s stereotype. After everyone was guessed, we sat in a circle and talked about different stereotypes and where they come from. This was one of the deepest and most interesting discussions Star girls have ever had. Although it was only planned for ten minutes, it ended up lasting more than an hour because everyone had so much imput. We ended the discussion by saying how BBG is composed of girls of all different identities and cliques, but we all come together in BBYO. We had a guest, Becky who was in Star in the early 90s. She shared old traditions and told us about how Star was when she was in it. We then all ate s’mores. We went back into the family room and wrote a new Star parody to ‘Don’t stop believing.’ Everyone had a great time and helped clean up after. We were all gleeked out.
Costs: Food

Submitter's Suggestions:
Plan for things to take longer than expected. We had other activities planned that we didn't have a chance to do. For instance, we had picked out a scene from Glee episode 8 about jews dating nonjews. We were going to watch it and then talk about our feelings on intermarriage. We were also going to make new chapter cheers.
