Program Summary:
Shapiro AZA and Tikvah BBG became closer to the Jewish religion with modern technology!
Full Description:
About 3 weeks before the project, Shapiro S'gan, Wesley Patt, and Tikvah N'siah, Miriam Lavenda, decided they wanted to plan a program that would help their chapters see into their inner selves and connect with their "Jewish side". About 2 weeks before the program, Wesley and Miriam created an outline and got ready for a truly "different" experience. The project began with an interactive service. Each member of the group would hold a piece of yarn and tell a time where they truly needed God or where they felt connected with God. After they finished, they would pass the yarn to the next person who would then tell an experience he or she had, and etc. After everyone in the group had gone, the yarn linked everyone in the group, thus showing that we are all connected through God. Next, Wesley and Miriam discussed with the group about how many religions view God in different ways and how all people are connected in some way. After the discussion, everyone got into groups of about 5-7 people. Each group was to create a "facebook" for their God. For example, God's friends would be the members of the group and God's interests, would be those of the group. After all of the facebooks were created, each member of the group was asked to write a "wall-post"/prayer to God. Everyone presented their facebooks to the group.
Cost: The only cost was the blank, white poster boards that were used to create the facebooks. The markers were borrowed from the house in which the project took place.
Submitter's Suggestions:
Make sure the house that the program takes place at has enough room for everyone to spread out and create the facebooks.
