Program Summary:
Run at our chapter induction overnight, this program comes in four parts, an Ice Breaker, a MIT Class, a fun simple program and an Induction. Throughout the night the girls will learn all about BBG and each other and have fun while doing it!
Full Description:
Supplies: Hershey Kisses, Music, Tins, Magazines/newspapers, T-shirts, markers, candles and other induction supplies.
Icebreaker: Sit in a circle and distribute a Hershey kiss to each person (THEY DON’T EAT IT). One of the Hershey’s has a black bottom, drawn prior to the overnight). This is a Hot Potato type game where you pass the chocolate around and then say stop. Whichever girl has the black bottomed Hershey kiss has to tell an embarrassing kiss/boy story!
MIT Class:
Six Folds- The goal of this is to teach your MITs the six folds in a fun way and get them to really think about what goes into each fold. They will decorate tins using newspaper, magazines and anything else you give them so that the tin represents one of the folds.
- Take six tins and have them labeled; one for each of the six folds. Have the girls work in teams to decorate the tin using quotes, song lyrics, and magazine cut outs in a way that represents that fold.
-Then have the girls switch tins with another group and brainstorm one program for that fold. They should write the program example on a note card and put it inside the tin. Have them switch when done until every group has had a chance to put a program in each fold’s tin. These tins can also be used in the future (by the S’ganit) to collect program ideas that girls want to do!
Cheers- This part of the class is designed so that the new members won’t be totally lost next time they are in a cheer circle. Working in teams (with a mix of new members and more experienced members) they will fill in the missing words to the cheers!
- As I call out a song title the girls in teams of two race to place the missing words as quickly as possible. One they are finished finding the words they must stand and sing it. If that is all done correctly then the team wins!
- Once the girls have filled in the cheers, have them make a music video for their cheer. This hilarious exercise will get the words stuck in their heads forever!
Board Positions: The board position Scavenger hunt will give the girls hints as to what position they need to find next. To see the hints I used see the attachments!
- Teams of two get their first envelope that will have a job description on it. Their next envelope will be labeled with the title of their first clue. The second envelope has another job description and their last envelope has a task. Whichever team completes them all first wins
Program : Each girls gets a T-Shirt, markers and paint and just decorates a T-Shirt that represents BBG to them. Whether it be “Got Spooey?”, “ You Is-Raeli Hot” or an original design it’s a calm simple activity after the MIT Class Competitions, and its something they can keep forever.
Induction: Induction process (that fun little task before we do the induction ceremony). I can’t reveal the induction process but you can see the script I used afterwards
